The Rubino series was developed with a novel objective. Contrary to the usual approaches, to ad collagen to an UV lamp, we wanted to offer a full-fledged tanning lamp which also combines the positive effects of the red light.
The challenge was to develop phosphor blends that influence each other as little as possible. While the pigments are darkened at wavelengths of 315 – 400nm (direct pigmentation), skin aging also works in the same range. The aging effect is alleviated by building up the collagen and elastin structures, increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood, reducing free radicals and increasing the hydration of the skin. The most pronounced effects of photomodulation show up around 620 nm and 700 nm. Studies have shown that e.g. phorphyrins can support collagen synthesis through photodynamic reactions, just as mitochondrial stimulation forms the starting point for collagen formation. No less important is the higher enrichment of the blood with oxygen, which is conducive to the stimulation of fibroblasts and thus the collagen and elastin synthesis, as well as improves the hydration of the skin, which produces an immediately noticeably better skin feel. The groundbreaking innovation is that these wavelengths no longer need to be powered primarily by UVA energy, so the effect of instant tanning has increased by up to 50% compared to previous compositions. In a pleasant side effect, the red light reduces the decomposition of sweat when tanning, which significantly reduces the typical ionizing odor (tanning smell).
